JUNIOR GOLFERS SELECTED TO PLAY IN
WALMART FIRST TEE OPEN AT PEBBLE BEACH PRESENTED BY NATURE VALLEY
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Seventy junior golfers from The First Tee have been selected to play in the Walmart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, an official Champions Tour event that will be held August 29-31 and televised nationally on the GOLF CHANNEL.
Representing 43 Chapters of The First Tee worldwide, 52 boys were selected from 90 participants through The First Tee Participant Selection Process that was held at Kansas State University and Colbert Hills Golf Course, July 14-18. A second selection process took place July 23-27 at Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye, NH where 18 girls qualified from 36 participants.
The selection process evaluates participants’ playing ability and comprehension of the life skills and core lessons learned through The First Tee Life Skills Experience curriculum.
To round out the total field of 78 juniors, eight exemptions will be awarded by The Monterey Peninsula Foundation, the host organization for the tournament.

About the Champions Tour
The Champions Tour is a division of the PGA TOUR, Inc., a tax-exempt membership organization of professional golfers. Conceived in 1980 as the Senior PGA Tour, it started with just four events and purses totaling $475,000. The Champions Tour will feature a minimum of 29 official events offering $55.5 million in prize money in 2008 and its highest average purse ever of $1.91 million.
