The First Tee of Cleveland
announces growth plan and expands professional team
Mary Patton named Development and Marketing Director

December 13, 2017; Cleveland, Ohio – The First Tee of Cleveland has selected Mary P. Patton as the non-profit organization’s Development and Marketing Director, a newly-created position. The expansion of the five-person staff is in conjunction with a strategic growth plan approved by The First Tee of Cleveland’s Board of Trustees this past August.

Serving participants ages 6 to 18 across Northeast Ohio, The First Tee of Cleveland is a chapter of The First Tee®, a national initiative celebrating 20 years as a youth development organization. The First Tee’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

“Mary has a strong passion for our mission and vision as well as a firm understanding of our programs and goals,” said Patricia LoPresti, Executive Director of The First Tee of Cleveland. “Her extensive experience with donor acquisition and stewardship efforts – combined with her vast marketing background – will be greatly beneficial in expanding our impact.”

Patton most recently served as President of Patton Public Relations, Inc., a firm she founded in 2001, through which she did consulting work with The First Tee of Cleveland. She also served as Director of Marketing of Cleveland-based Perspectus Architecture. Patton has managed public relations, marketing and business development initiatives, for a wide range of companies and charitable organizations and has coordinated fundraising activities for many local non-profits.
“I am excited to dedicate my talents and work closely with the staff, board and key stakeholders to move The First Tee of Cleveland forward,” said Patton. “The organization has strong leadership in place, and I’m honored to be part of a winning team that is focused on enhancing the lives of hundreds of young people.”
Patton’s professional / community involvement includes: Diana Hyland Miracle Fund / University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center – Co-Chair, Miracles Happen benefit and Publicist; The Emerald Jenny Foundation – Board Member; Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland – Advisory Board, Marketing Committee; and, John Carroll University Entrepreneurs Association – Member. She is a past board member of the John Carroll University Alumni Association, Beaumont School, Achievement Centers for Children and The Press Club of Cleveland.
Patton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from John Carroll University. In 2005, she was awarded with the University’s Alumni Medal, the highest honor given annually by the JCU Alumni Association.

The First Tee of Cleveland’s main campus – Washington Golf Course in Newburgh Heights – features a nine-hole golf course operated by Cleveland Metroparks with programming under The First Tee of Cleveland.
